With the purpose of to study Phytoplasma diseases infecting fruit trees and vegetable plants in Azerbaijan chief on scientific researches of fruit biology and pathology department UMR-1332 (Biologie du Fruit et Pathologie) of National Institute for Agricultural Research of France (INRA Bordeaux cendqiq re) Dr. Xavier Foissac has been at the Fundamental problems of biological productivity department (ANAS Institute of Botany) headed by academician Jalal Aliyev.
Let’s note that, the basis of this meeting realized within frame of scientific cooperation between France and Azerbaijan had been founded since 2005 and today successfully is carried out.
Dr.Xavier Foissac had held wide discussion together with the employees of the department about diagnosis of plants with features of phytoplasma diseases, collection of insect vectors and measures against this disease. During the meeting With the aim of to lay bare diseased trees have been conducted expeditions to Baku, Absheron Peninsula and Guba, as well as plum, peach and apricot trees with disease features were discovered in the experience fields of the scientific-research institute of agriculture and vegetable-growing of Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan located Pirshagi, Institute of Horticulture's Subtropical Gardening located in Guba and ANAS Botanical Garden, leaf samples were collected for analyze.
The French scientist had attended at the discussion of the PhD student of Fundamental problems of biological productivity department of the institute Gulnara Balakishiyeva’s dissertation work on “The distribution of phytoplasmas in fruit trees and vegetable crops in Azerbaijan and molecular research of their diversity” which had presented for getting doctor of philosophy academic name.
At the end of the meeting results of works jointly carried out were discussed at the round table with participation of Dr.Xavier Foissac, chief of “Bioadaptation” laboratory, corresponding member of ANAS Irada Huseynova, chief of Genome Structure and Expression laboratory, PhD in biology, docent Alamdar Mammadov and PhD student Gulnara Balakishiyeva.
