	Main area of activity of the structural unit:	Developing the methods of synthesis of functionally substituted thiiranes, 3-substituted thiethanes and N-substituted thiocarbamides. Development of scientific bases for obtaining highly efficient antiwear and antiscuffing additives to transmission oils by studying the relationship between structure and their functional properties. Development of scientific bases for obtaining the antioxidants of combined action.
	Main scientific achievements of the structural unit:	The methods of synthesis of a variety of thiiranes and thiethanes, N-substituted carbamides have been developed. For the first time thiiranes and thiethanes were studied as antiscuffing and antiwear additives to transmission oils. Establishing the relation between structure and their functional properties, it was possible to develop scientifc bases for producing highly efficient antiscuffing and antiwear additives to transmission oils. On model reactions the antioxidative properties of aminothiols and N-substituted cyclic thiocarbamides have been studied. It was found out that the compounds stated are antioxidants of combined action.
